We asked Samantha Ambrosine Glover to tell us how she’s been getting on with promoting sales on her ebay store.
As you know I posted my first promotional sale on Ebay and sales have increased.
There is also a nifty tool called markdown manager where you can put individual or groups of items on sale.
What about boosting your ranking?
I read that the Cassini system loves sales and it boosts your ranking.
Currently I have a sale on comforters and a few minutes after the sale being activated I sold one. I also just put a sale on bunk beds and sold one, and I have a special if you spend $100 you get $5 off.
These kitchen cabinets have been selling like hot cakes. I find it is better to mark up your item in price, consumers like to feel engaged. When people watch your items they are watching it for a reason, they want to see if it will go down in price. When you have an item on sale, Ebay sometimes will put a banner on the item saying it is on sale. When they open the item there is a box that tells them when they check out how much they will save.
Regarding SEO, the reason why some but not all may lose sales at first when opening a store is that Ebay will put default keywords to your store pages if you do not go in and adjust it.
How are your conversion rates?
My conversion rate I am not happy with but I noticed the default keywords were leading people to the wrong store page.
I had tons of traffic but low conversions due to misplaced keywords.
Having an Ebay store you get 300 categories, so that is like having a website with 300 pages. Each of your categories show up on the listing so consumers can browse. For these 300 pages you can customize your keywords up to 360 characters per category.
I have been redoing my category names as the ones I had didn’t make much sense and have to be user friendly to the customer. I also factor in google keywords and phrases that will make my store more successful.
Keep in mind every time you change your keywords it may take up to 30 days to crawl into google. My google statistics were 200,000 impressions on Google and I noticed I had a lot of non Ebayers purchase from me which is great.
My goal is to increase my sales on the Google platform. Also Ebay promoted one of my items on Google.
I did a search for a dishware set I am selling and there was a picture of the item I was selling on the firsts page of Google, when you clicked on it, it led to my ad on Ebay. Pretty Cool!!!
