During the Second World War the British relied heavily on convoys of Merchant ships bringing supplies from Canada, and later America, that were vital for Britain to continue its war effort. These convoys could have as many as 70 ships, mostly unarmed.
There was a long struggle as the Germans developed anti-convoy tactics and the British developed counter-tactics to thwart the Germans. [Read more…]
